Annotation:

The name Sheyer is a form of the surname Shoyer and belongs to the ancient surnames first recorded among German Jews in the 16th century. This name originates from the German word “Scheuer” meaning “barn.” “The Golden Barn” (“Goldene Shoyer”) was among the signs that marked houses in the famous Jewish quarter Judengasse in the city of Frankfurt am Main (we used materials from the website https://www.jewage.org/wiki/ru/Special:MainPage).

א'. שייר, בן 33. אזור פריוויסליאן (פולין הקונגרסאית). יהודים אירופאים. תצלום מהאוסף של ארקדי דנילוביץ' אלקינד (1869-1920), שבשנות 1894-1896 ערך מחקרים אנתרופולוגיים מבין יהודי האזור פריוויסליאן. צלם ד'.ד'. אלקינד. 1897. שם המשפחה שייר הוא אחת הצורות של שם המשפחה שוייר והוא בין שמות המשפחה העתיקים שצוינו לראשונה מבין יהודי גרמניה במאה השש עשרה. שם משפחה זה נגזר מהמילה הגרמנית "שוייר" (Scheuer) שפירושה "אסם".
