Annotation:

The name Nudel is translated from German and Yiddish as “needle.” (we used materials from the website https://toldot.ru/life/lnames/a/). “The appearance of Polish Jewesses is very often characterized by a peculiar visage, sometimes verging a southern or even Oriental character of facial outlines and expressions (from the book The Jews by A. D. Elkind, 1903).

ב'. נודל, בן 17. אזור פריוויסליאן (פולין הקונגרסאית), מחוז לובלין, עיר חולם. יהודים אירופאים. תצלום מהאוסף של ארקדי דנילוביץ' אלקינד (1869-1920), שבשנות 1894-1896 ערך מחקרים אנתרופולוגיים מבין יהודי האזור פריוויסליאן. צלם ד'.ד'. אלקינד. 1897. שם המשפחה נודל מתורגם מגרמנית ומיידיש כ: מחט. "מראיהן של יהודיות פולין ברוב המיקרים גם מאופיינת בדמות די חריג, ויותר קרוב לסוג, הבעה וקווי הפנים דרומיים או אפילו מזחיים".
