Annotation:

The name Goldberg originates from the words “gold” (gold, golden) and “berg” (mountain) and is translated from German and Yiddish as “gold mountain.” One of the most common surnames among Ashkenazi Jews (we used materials from the website https://toldot.ru/life/lnames/a/).

מ'. גולדברג, בן 36. אזור פריוויסליאן (פולין הקונגרסאית), מחוז ראדום. יהודים אירופאים. תצלום מהאוסף של ארקדי דנילוביץ' אלקינד (1869-1920), שבשנות 1894-1896 ערך מחקרים אנתרופולוגיים מבין יהודי האזור פריוויסליאן. צלם ד'.ד'. אלקינד. 1897. שם המשפחה גולדברג נגזר מהמילים "gold" (זהב, זהוב) ו-"berg" (הר) ומתורגם מגרמנית ומיידיש כ"הר הזהב". אחד משמות המשפחה הנפוצים ביותר מבין היהודים האשכנזים.
