Annotation:

The man has on a brimmed hat, one of the most common male headgears in shtetls in the second half of the 19th century (it was worn over a kippah) and peies (payot) on the temples are signs of special religiosity and affiliation to the Jewish people. The photograph was displayed at the Russian Ethnographic Exhibition of 1867 in Moscow.

יהודי של שנות ה-40 (עיר קובנה?) יהודים אירופאים. צלם אלמוני. 1866. על ראשו של האיש - אחד מכובעי הגבריים הכי נפוצים בעיירות במחצית השנייה של המאה ה-19 – כובע עם שוליים (חובש מעל כיפה). התצלום הוצג בתערוכה האתנוגרפית הרוסית שהתקיינה בשנת 1867 במוסקבה.
