Annotation:

The photograph was received from Brzozovski, artist Strauss and Okolov. In district and province centers, lower-class Jews were occupied as load handlers, stone cutters, and diggers, and generally did hard manual work. The photograph was displayed at the Russian Ethnographic Exhibition of 1867 in Moscow.

יהודי מעיר ווילנה. מחוז וילנה, עיר וילנה. יהודים אירופאים. צלמים: ברז'וזובסקי. 1866. בערי המחוז והפרבר היהודים בעלי המעמד הנמוך עבדו כמובילים, חותכי אבן, חופרי קרקע, ביצעו עבודה פיזית קשה. התצלום הוצג בתערוכה האתנוגרפית הרוסית שהתקיינה בשנת 1867 במוסקבה.
