Annotation:

Folder "Types of Jews of Podolia Guberniya " from the album " Types of Podolia and Bessarabia". In the late 19th century, the occupation of junk dealer – or garbageman, or “tandytnik” (from the word tandyta meaning flea market, heaps of old clothes and underwear) was predominantly Jewish. Junk dealers bought various old things, paper, glass etc., and offered their goods to passers-by in the market-place on Central Square in Kamenets-Podolsky. It was due to garbagemen that a shtetl was kept clean and things’ life was extended. Besides, it also gave a small profit to residents, as junk dealers bought their things they did not need in the household.

תיקייה "סוגי היהודים במחוז פודולסקי" כחלק מהאוסף "הסוגים בפודוליה ובבסרביה“. גריים מיכאיל בן יוסף (1828-1911) היה אחד הצלמים המפורסמים בעיר, חבר פעיל של האגודה הגיאוגרפית הרוסית, חובב היסטורית המקום, נומיסמטיסט, בעל חנות הצילום משלו בכיכר הקתדרלה, עסק בהוצאת אוספי תצלומים, חוברות גלויות לתיירים הקשורות להיסטוריה ולתרבות של "אלטעזאכן ("טנדיטניק" המכונה "כולרה")" - כיתוב בדיו על גבית. צלם מ'. גריים. תיקייה "סוגי היהודים במחוז פודולסקי" כחלק מהאוסף "הסוגים בפודוליה ובבסרביה: לכבוד האגודה הגאוגרפית הקיסרית מטיפוגרף וצלום מיכאל גריים". קמנץ-פודולסק, 1883". בסוף המאה ה-19, המקצוע אלטעזאכן, זבלן, טנדיטניק (מהמילה "טנדיטה" - "טולקוצ'קה" (שוק הפשפשים), ערימות בגדים ומצעים ישנים) היה בעיקר יהודי. הזבלנים קנו כל מיני דברים ישנים, נייר, זכוכית וכו', הציעו את סחורתם לעוברים ושבים בקמנץ-פודולסקי בכיכר המרכזית, המקום של בזאר. דוקא בזכות הזבלנים נשמרה עיירה במצב נקי וחייהם של הדברים הוארכו. בנוסף, התושבים גם קצת הרוויחו מזה, כי אנשי אלטעזאכן קנו מהם את הדברים המיותרים בביתם.
