The sample is sewn together lengthwise from two narrow pieces of dressed Chinese carp skin. The dressing of fish skin consisted of several stages: the removed skin was scraped, stretched on rakes, pressed, and tumbled on a special tumbler. The dressed leather became elastic, soft, watertight, strong and durable. It was used to make clothing, footwear, bags, and other household items
