Annotation:

Carved from wood. A small, slightly bent stick with a flat surface on the bent part. The outer surface is decorated with embossed lines and carving with slit figured holes on the end. Most often smoothers were made of wood, but ivory ones occur too. They could also be replaced with knife handles.
