Annotation:

Youth wearing a belted jacket and an outer garment (chakmen) of light cloth; the crown of his fur cap is covered with patterned fabric. The costume of expensive fabrics and fur indicates that the youth belongs to a well-to-do family. The main distinction in the Bukhara Jews’ costume was headgear – fabric-covered fur caps or caps with a fur band. Men of non-Muslim faith were forbidden to wear a turban, the most common headgear of urban Muslim population of Central Asia at the break of the 19th-20th centuries.

נער יהודי. יהודי בוכרה. צלם ד'.אי'. ארמקוב. שנות ה-1890. בשוליים התחתויים של התמונה - פס כהה עם מספור המחבר וטקסט בעל איות טרום מהפכני: "9109. האזור טרנסאספיאן. עיר בוכרה. נער יהודי. 548". נער בחולצה עם חגורה ובבגדי עליון (צ'אקמן) מבד בהיר; כיפה של כובע הפרווה מכוסה עם בד מקושט. החליפה התפורה מבדים יקרים ופרווה מצביעה על כך שהנער הינו יוצא משפחה עשירה. פריט מאפיין העיקרי בחליפה של יהודי בוכרה היה כיסויי ראש: כובע פרווה המכוסה בבד, או כובע עם שוליי פרווה. הטורבן, כיסוי הראש הכי נפוץ בין האוכלוסייה המוסלמית בערי מרכז אסיה בסוף המאה ה-19 - תחילת המאה ה-20, היה נאסר לחבישה על ידי זרים.
