Annotation:

Along the left edge of the photograph is a dark stripe with author’s numbering and text in pre-Revolutionary spelling: “9597. Transcaspian Region. Bukhara. A group of Jews. 644” The elderly men (seated in the center) are wearing ancient caps with a wide band and a tall conical crown; the younger ones have low-crowned caps on.

קבוצה של גברים ונערים. אמירת בוכרה, עיר בוכרה. יהודי בוכרה. צלם ד'.אי'. ארמקוב. שנות ה-1890. בשוליים משמאל של התמונה - פס כהה עם מספור המחבר וטקסט בעל איות טרום מהפכני: "9597. האזור טרנסאספיאן. עיר בוכרה. קבוצת יהודים. 644" על הגברים המבוגרים (היושבים במרכז) חבושים כובעים עתיקים עם שוליים רחבים וכיפה גבוהה בצורת גביע, ועל הצעירים יותר – חבושים כובעים עם כיפה נמוכה.
