Kaushes are traditionally shaped leather galoshes worn over soft "makhsi" boots or on top of a sock when going outside. They are decorated using the "gulduzi" technique. Kaushis covered in velvet and embroidered with metallic threads were called "mirzoi zarin kaush" ("mirza" - scribe, educated person; "zarin" - golden); they were worn by wealthy city dwellers.
