The “garon” gaters are made from Chinese brown cotton fabric. The upper edge is decorated with multicolor strips of cotton fabric and a broad strip of black velvet decorated with embroidery in multicolor silk threads (ornament of stylized snakes and spiral foliage motifs). The gaters were worn with low footwear. Fabric gaters “garon” (”stocking-like”) came into use in the second half of the 19th century.
