Annotation:

"Turkestan Album". Sketches by V. V. Vereschagin 2, 5 – Jews (male portraits) 4, 6 – Jewesses (female portraits) 2 – shoulder portrait of a Jew in a fur-trimmed cap. 5 – shoulder portrait of a Jew in a scull cap. 4 – shoulder portrait of a Jewess in a turban, her shoulders and breast covered with a shawl. 6 – shoulder portrait of a Jewess, a kerchief tied round her head, several decorations on the neck, a traditional nose ring. “The Jewish type has remained quite pure: long aquiline noses, pale narrow faces with rather protruding lips. On the whole, the traits have much nobility… all girls are or remarkable beauty” (“Jews in Samarkand. From Radlow’s report on his trip to Zeravshan Territory in the summer of 1868.”)

דף מ"אוסף תצלומי טורקיסטן. צוירי ו'.ו'. ורשצ'גין". 2,5 - יהודים (דיוקנאות גברים) 4,6 - יהודיות (דיוקנאות נשים) 2 - דיוקן כיתפי של גבר יהודי בכובע עם קישוט פרווה בשוליים. 5 - דיוקן כיתפי של גבר יהודי בכובע גולגולת. 4 - דיוקן כיתפי של אישה יהודייה שחובשת טורבן, כתפיה והחזה שלה מכוסים במטפחת. 6 - דיוקן כיתפי של אישה יהודייה, ראשה עטוף במטפחת, וסביב צווארה ענודים מספר תכשיטים. באפה - עגיל הטבעת המסורתי.
