Made from a piece of planed juniper trunk bent archwise to form a loop. Carved on the broader end of the nöshkala are the owner’s initials, Т.И.И. for Terentiev, Ignato Ivanovich. Such a collar (nöshkala) was put on riding deer’s neck: when the sled was unharnessed, the deer was tethered by the collar. Riding deer with this collar were also turned to free pasture.
