Annotation:

Jewish ethnographic expedition of S. A. An-sky. Preparations for burials were undertaken by members of the Chevra Kadisha burial society. Attached to the wall is a plaque with the caption in Hebrew and Russian, “Marble table made for washing the deceased. Donated by Veniamin son of Yakov Ratner in 664 by minor reckoning (corresponding to 1904). Inscription on the candle holder on the table: “This was donated by Mordecai and his wife Haya (?) Kalarnach (?).”

גופה על השולחן. הקצה הדרום-מערבי. יהודים אירופאים. המשלחת האתנוגרפית היהודית של ס'.א'. אנ-סקי. צלם - יודובין ס'.ב'. 1912 נגטיב. בהכנות להלוויה עסקו חברי אגודת הקבורה "חברה קדישא". אל הקיר חובר שלט ובו כתוב בעברית וברוסית: "שולחן בעל שיש שנעשה לטפל (?) עליו נפטרים. בנימין בר יעקב ראטנער בשנה לפ"ק (1904). כיתוב על המנורה העומדת על השולחן: "זאת נדבו מרדכי ואשתו חנה (?) קאלאדנר (?)".
