Malica is a fur garment borrowed by the Saami from the Izhma Komi and the Nenets, which gradually superseded pechok, the Saami traditional winter fur garment. Unlike the latter, the malica had a sewn-on hood and sewn-on mittens. Over the malica, a malica shirt was worn, which protected the fur from premature wear. Abstract by A.A. Zankovskaya
