Annotation:

On the reverse of the letterhead card is the inscription: “To dear Auntie Bronya from her niece Valya. September 10, 1917. Picture taken in June 1917.” Alexander Adolfovich Otsup was a famous St. Petersburg photographer, a master of portrait photography. From 1898 he ran his own studio at 2 Basseinaya Street. In the early 20th century he was granted the right to style himself as “court supplier and photographer”; he covered the public life of the Tsar’s family for further distribution in the press.
