Annotation:

Jewish ethnographic expedition of S. A. An-sky. Lateral face of a synagogue, with an extension for women. Men and women prayed in synagogues separately. The female spaces in synagogues of the late 17th and mid-18th century were in attachments, separated from the praying room by a wall with through openings, which only enabled women to hear the prayers.

בית הכנסת מעץ. מחוז פודולסק, אוייזד פרוסקורובסקי, עיירה יהודית ירמולינצי. יהודים אירופאים. המשלחת האתנוגרפית היהודית של ס'.א'. אנ-סקי צלם - יודובין ס'.ב'. 1912-1914. תמונה מודפסת. החזית הצדדית של בית הכנסת עם הרחבה לנשים. גברים ונשים בבתי הכנסת התפללו נפרד. מרחבי נשים בבתי הכנסת של סוף המאה ה-17 - אמצע המאה ה-17 נמצאו בתוספות והופרדו מאולם התפילה על באמתעו הקיר עם פתחים מקצה לקצה, שאיפשר לנשים רק לשמוע תפילות
