Annotation:

Jewish ethnographic expedition of S. A. An-sky. The laws of the Russian Empire established restrictions on the construction of Jewish houses of prayer: one school (“beth midrash”) per 30 households was permitted, and one synagogue per 80 households; their construction within 200 meters from a Christian church was forbidden if both buildings were in the same street, etc.

בית הכנסת מעץ. מחוז פודולסק, אוייזד פרוסקורובסקי, עיירה יהודית ירמולינצי. יהודים אירופאים. המשלחת האתנוגרפית היהודית של ס'.א'. אנ-סקי צלם - יודובין ס'.ב'. 1912-1914. תמונה מודפסת. על פי חוקי האימפריה הרוסית, נקבעו הגבלות על בניית בתי תפילה יהודיים: לכל 30 בתים ניתן היה לבנות בית ספר אחד ("בית מדרש") ובית כנסת אחד לכל 80 בתים, עם זאת, אסור היה לבנות במרחק פחות מ-100 סאז'ן (213.36 מטר) מבית המקדש הנוצרי, אם שני המבנים היו באותו רחוב ועוד.
