Features of women’s winter footwear of motley and white deer kamus are a high top and a sandal-like sole of bearded seal hide with edges turned up. A strip of seal skin folded double and inserted in the seam between the top and sole prevented water from getting inside and kept the feet dry. The footwear was fixed at the instep with long leather strings. The front of the top was decorated with fur mosaic and color thread embroidery. Abstract by V.V. Gorbacheva
