The main travel mode in the tundra was riding reindeer harnessed in a sled. The Nenets sled with skewed stanchions had a light design, but was stable at the same time. There were several types of sled: man’s and woman’s riding sleds, and load-carrying sleds of various design, for carrying clothes, food, the chum’s covers and poles, and all household belongings. Usually 2 to 3 deer were harnesses in a sled in winter, and up to 5 to 7 in summer. Abstract by I.A. Karapetova
