In summer when deer are tortured by gadflies and midges, smoky fires are made against them in taiga camps, by building a campfire and covering it with wet moss on top. In the fire smoke, deer seek respite from gadfly and midge bites, and thanks to such smoky fire, they do not go far away from home. Such tools made of wood or metal rod were used by the forest Nenets and Khanty. Abstract by I.A. Karapetova
