"Alacha" is a semi-silk fabric with narrow black, white, and yellow stripes on a dark red background. It was produced by the Teke people and was used to make robes. Weaving was a home women's occupation, woven on a "tara" or "dukan" loom—a narrow-beam horizontal loom of the common Central Asian type.
