Arch-like flap from a noise-making pendant.
Khanty
Tobolsk province, Berezovsky district
IX – XII вв.
РЭМ 1711-369
It served as a decoration of women’s plait bands. Objects similar to noise-making pendants are found in the neighboring Kama Land (Cis-Ural Land), which indicates long-standing ethnocultural relationships between the ancient Permian and western Siberian taiga populations. The medieval bronze figurines found in the ground were valued by the Khanty and Mansi. They served as decorations, and were used in ritual practices.
