The rectangular floor mat is made of two layers of birch bark stitched with nettle threads. A decorative birch bark strip is sewn to two edges, with a traditional slit ornament painted with red and black dye. Birch bark was one of the essential materials for making domestic implements. Decorated birch bark strips not only had practical purposes but also served as household decoration.
