Carved of wood. One end of the handle has a cavity for the nose piece, the other is wide and flat, with figured slit edges, shaped like a slingshot. The middle part has notches to prevent slipping in the hand. The carved part is decorated with a traditional ornament painted with a black dye. The Amur peoples processed fish skin with such scrapers. The nose pieces, generally rectangular with rounded corners, were forged from iron.
