Hunter’s calendar: 30 plaques, the length of two outermost ones denoting the beginning and end of a month. All plaques are sharpened on one side, and have drilled holes on the other side, through which a string is passed. The Udege knew the lunar calendar well; it had 12 months, 30 days in each. The longest batten in the middle is for the middle of the month.
