Inserted in the frame of red cloth decorated with multicolor beads are two metal plates with narrow horizontal slits for eyes. The goggles were fixed on the head with strings so that the fit the face tightly, light passing through the slits only. Such protective goggles of various design, protecting against blinding by snow and sun, were used by all peoples of the North. Abstract by M.V. Fedorova
