The upper part is of thin white calico; the collar is open and gathered by the neckband; a straight slit at the front; buttoned up with a flat porcelain button and a slit buttonhole; the sleeves are long and very much skewed toward the ends, decorated with a foliage ornament in low embroidery and white cotton thread at the wrist; the body is of coarser calico. Women’s chemises of two parts (usually of different fabrics), top (sleeves, cuffs) and bottom (body, body panel), were worn everywhere in Pomorye. Abstract by O.G. Baranova
