The forehead part is sewn from a straight strip of red calico; the lower edge is trimmed with black braid, whose ends at the back serve as ties; the oval rear part is covered with gold and silver thread embroidery on crimson velvet, and decorated with sewn-on bronze plaques and inserts of white cut-glass; the lining is of factory-made cotton fabric with red and white stripes. Povoiniks were worn on the Pomor coast in the villages of Vygostrov, Virma, Kolezhma, Sumposad, and Nyukhcha.
