The pinafore is made of brown silk with blue flowers, on a thin printed fabric lining, with a center seam at the front, decorated with cord and copper buttons. Such pinafores were worn by anchoresses and old women of Old Belief on the Winter, Summer, Pomor, and Kandalaksha coasts; the pinafore was also known as kostych. Abstract by O.G. Baranova
