Sewn from dressed deer skin, closed up, with a hood and plastron of deer leg skin. The garment’s outside is dyed tile red with alder bark. The sleeves and hem are decorated with geometric ornament of white and brown leather, by mosaic technique. The parka resembles a Chukchi or Koryak kukhlyanka. Such resemblance is a result of contacts between the Chuvans and the Chukchi and Koryaks, and of borrowing elements of their culture. Abstract by V.V. Gorbacheva
