It is a juniper rod with knots for winding a fish line of white horse hair braided into three strands, with a weight lead, with threads at the ends for baits. The navaga cod fishery developed in Pomorye later than other fisheries, but already in the late 19th and early 20th century it became a major fishery of the Winter and Onega Coast, playing an important role for dwellers of some settlements of the Pomor coast.
