The Pomors usually built their barns on a riverside; they were rectangular log structures with V-shaped roofs, often without any windows; sometimes, small windows were cut out under the very roof. The barns were intended for storage of grain and flour; fish and sea hunting products were kept in hunting barns and warehouses. There are boats at the shoreline in front of the barns. In the background, we see two-storied houses of rich Pomors of the Sumsky Posad. Abstract by O.G. Baranova
