The picture shows a man with a plow put to a horse against the background of dwelling and household buildings and a church ensemble in he village of Nizhmozero. The parish consisted of this Pomor village only. In 1661, a tent-shaped St. Nicholas church was erected. In 1871, another heated church was built (on the site of the one that had burned down). It had three altars: the main one in honor of Thomas the Apostle, the southern one in honor of Virgin Mary’s Assumption, and the northern one in honor of St. Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom. The churches burned down in August 1986. Abstract by O.G. Baranova
