On the island of Vormsi, children's clothing between the ages of one and five years old had no age or gender differences. Boys and girls wore identical bonnets, shirts, dresses, and aprons. There were some design peculiarities and color preferences (for example, when making a boy's dress, yellow fabric with black stripes was chosen), but these did not constitute a consistent tradition. Upon reaching the age of five to seven, children began to wear clothing similar to that worn by adult men and women on weekdays and holidays.
