Figured in the central part of the four-pointed cross is a Calvary cross with Adam’s head and the captions Jesus Christ Son of God. On the reverse of the cross is the embossed prayer text MAY GOD ARISE…. The cross is secured between two strips of a beaded chest decoration with a collar. The cross was made by a Russian artisan. It occurred among baptized indigenous peoples of Siberia. It was worn as a decoration over a chemise-dress and as part of a festive costume. Abstract by V.V. Gorbacheva
