On the reverse of the cross is the embossed prayer text MAY GOD ARISE…. The cross is secured between two strips of a beaded chest decoration with a collar. The cross was made by a Russian artisan. It occurred among baptized indigenous peoples of Siberia. It was worn as a decoration over a chemise-dress and as part of a festive costume. Abstract by V.V. Gorbacheva
