Annotation:

In the late 19th century, the shtetl had 4790 residents, two churches and two Jewish praying houses. Actually all spheres of the shtetl’s business life — crafts, industry, and commerce — were held by Jews. Jews leased the largest enterprise – a distillery, they owned a steam mill, a mead brewery, timber yards, and all shops and outlets; many Jews were artisans: shoemakers, fur dressers, carpenters, and ironsmiths.

לזייף. מחוז פודולסקי, אוייזד אולגופולסקי, עיירה יהודית ז'בוקריץ'. יהודים אירופאים. הצלם זארמבסקי א'.אי'. .צילום משלחתי. 1924 תמונה מודפסת. בסוף המאה התשע עשרה התגוררו בעיירה 4,790 תושבים, נמצאו 2 כנסיות ו-2 בתי תפילה יהודיים. כמעט כל תחומי החיים הכלכליים של העיירה — מלאכה, תעשייה ומסחר - היו בידי היהודים. היהודים שכרו את המפעל הגכי דול — את היקב, בבעלותם היתה טחנת קיטור, מפעל דבש, מחסני יער, כל דוחים והחנויות, יהודים רבים היו בעלי מלאכה: סנדלרים, עובדי עור ופרווה, נגרים, נפחים.
