Annotation:

“Bimah” is a raised platform in a synagogue intended for reading the Torah Scroll. The rails of the bimah and of the steps leading to it were often decorated with carving or open-work forged components. Sometimes, the bimah was constructed as a domed kiosk. The bimah had two entrances: the Torah Scroll was carried in it from one side, and then was carried out to be returned to the AronKodesh (ark for keeping the Scroll) from the other side. Thus, the Torah Scroll completed a symbolic circle.

"הבימה" זוהי מדרגה המגודרת בבית הכנסת, המיועדת לקריאת מגילת התורה. גידור הבימה ומעקות המדרגות שהובילו לבימה בעיקר היו מעוטרים בגילופים או באביזרים מחושלים. לפעמים נבנתה הבימה בצורת הפרגולה עם הכיפה. לבימה היו שתי כניסות: מצד אחד הונחה עליה מגילת התורה, ומצד השני היא הוציאה להחזרתה לארון הקודש (ארון לאחסון המגילה). לכן, מגילת התורה עשתה מעגל סמלי.
