The Nenets men’s costume consisted of a fur malica – a closed-up garment with a hood, a cloth overall cloak worn over the malica to protect it against moisture; a belt; footwear and garters for it. Malica was the basic clothing of Nenets men. It was long, with a wide skirt, sewn from deer hides fur inside, with sleeves loose in the armholes, and with closely sewn-up mittens. The malica was worn with a full front serving as a kind of pocket, and girt with a belt at the waist. Abstract by I.A. Karapetova
