Kerezha, a model. The Saami’s means of transport, a one-skid sledge shaped as a boat. The kerezha was pulled by one deer controlled with a khorey, a long pole with a horn pike. There were kerezhas for riding and for load-carrying. Load kerezhas had a larger capacity and special covers protecting the load. A riding kerezha had a special fur sack called “rova” placed in it to protect feet from cold during riding (see No. 4037-54). Abstract by A.A. Zankovskaya
