Annotation:
Cast copper icon of the Virgin of Consolation of All Sorrows from an Old Belief tomb. This image of Virgin Mary was believed to be miraculous in the Orthodox Church. The icon depicts Virgin Mary surrounded by people overwhelmed by diseases and vexation, and by angels doing good deeds on her behalf. The icon was inserted in the middle of a wooden cross. The cross was fixed on the ridge of the casket roof. Abstract by L.V. Korolkova
