The photo shows a small Karelian family consisting of mother, son, his wife, and granddaughter. This 1926 photo shows that by that time, the traditional festive costume of the Karelians had been almost completely superseded by clothes made after an urban fashion. One exception is povoiniks, headgear worn by married women. Abstract by L.V. Korolkova
