Twice a year, in spring and autumn, a deer calf was offered to Id yerv, Master of Water, for good luck in fishing. Some of the sacrificial blood was poured out to the water. The deer skull was put on a pole and left onshore. One of the fish caught in the last seine was placed under the skull. The ground around it was strewn with ash taken from the hearth.
