The Saami retained ancient objects, for instance in decoration of parts of their costume, and among household articles. The comb has a zoomorphic finishing. Its small size enable carrying it on the waist as a noise-producing pendant, an amulet, for which the Saami often used metal objects. In the Soviet time, the Saami women used clasp pins as amulets, wearing several of them on the breast. Abstract by A.A. Zankovskaya
