Fairs played an important role in the exploration of Siberia by Russian pathbreakers and merchants. One of them was the Yeropol Fair in Chukotka. Deer farmers and maritime people of Chukotka and nearby territories came to the Yeropol River, to get the commodities they needed by natural barter. The Yeropol Fair helped to stop hostilities between the Chuikchi and the Koryaks. Abstract by V.V. Gorbacheva
