Annotation:

From the album “Views of the City of Pinsk.” “An orphanage for poor Jewish boys is arranged near the hospital. They are now up to a hundred in that orphanage. It was set up by Haika Ayuriy, a Jewess very well known here, and is maintained by public donations, one silver kopeck from each candle lit on Sabbath in each Jewish home.” (N. S. פינת התיישבותם של היהודים העניים. מחוז מינסק, עיר פינסק ק'. ברנדל, שנות 1882-1884. מאוסף תצלומים "נופי העיר פינסק". "סמוך לבית חולים הוקם בית היתומים לנערים היהודים העניים. כיום, בבית היתומים הזה ישנם עד מאה חניכים. בית היתומים יוסד על ידי היהודייה בשם חייקה איוריי וממומן על חשבון תרומות הציבור, פרוטה של כסף מכל נר שנדלק בשבש בכל בית יהודי."
