Annotation:

Sukkot: “The Feast of Booths.” Sukkot was celebrated for seven days, during which it was customary to live in such booths, in memory of the Clouds of Glory that protected the people against the glaring sun of the Sinai Desert. In a booth (sukkah) they held festive repasts, received friends, danced, etc.

חגיגת סוכות. אמירות בוכרה, עיר בוכרה. יהודים בוכרים. צלם פ'. אורדה. שנות ה-1890. סוכות - "ברוסית - חג קושצ'י". חג סוכות נחגג במשך 7 ימים, במהלכם נהוג היה לחיות בסוכה, לזכר נדידת היהודים במדבר סיני בימי יציאת מצרים. בסוכה ארגנו סעודות חגיגיות, קיבלו אורחים, רקדו וכו'.
