The photo shows children sitting close by the chum. Evenki families usually had many children, and they were treated with much love; it was not allowed to beat them, to scold them, and to punish them for minor mischief. Children grew up self-reliant, and joined work from their early age, helping their parents in work around the house. Younger children were under care of their older brothers and sisters.
