The photo shows a herd of grazing deer, and conical chums of a summer camp on a riverside behind them.
The deer were the Evenki’s main treasure and played a major role in their life since the earliest times. The taiga deer were much larger and sturdier than the tundra ones.
They were used as a means of transport, for riding and for load carrying during migrating.
